{"id":158,"date":"2020-08-28T19:54:02","date_gmt":"2020-08-28T18:54:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theguitar.rocks\/?p=158"},"modified":"2020-08-28T19:54:02","modified_gmt":"2020-08-28T18:54:02","slug":"mercury-prize-albums-of-the-year-get-the-tim-burgess-twitter-listening-party-treatment-music-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theguitar.rocks\/?p=158","title":{"rendered":"Mercury Prize Albums of the Year get the Tim Burgess Twitter listening party treatment &#8211; Music News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.music-news.com\/images\/news\/Tim-Burgess.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>A selection of the 2020 Hyundai Mercury Prize \u2018Albums of the Year\u2019 are getting the Tim Burgess Twitter listening party treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the shortlisted records for the prestigious honour have been chosen for the popular series, including Laura Marling&#8217;s &#8216;Song for our Daughter&#8217;, Georgia&#8217;s &#8216;Seeking Thrills&#8217; and Sports Teams&#8217; &#8216;Deep Down Happy&#8217;.<br \/>The Mercury Prize special will take place between September 2 and September 10.<\/p>\n<p>To take part, Twitter users simply put on the record at the time slot for the session, follow The Charlatans frontman on the micro-blogging app, and then tweet their opinions along with the artist.<\/p>\n<p>And by adding the #TimsTwitterListeningParty to their post, fans can interact with Tim and fellow fans.<br \/>The parties will kick off with Laura Marling&#8217;s &#8216;Song for Our Daughter&#8217; at 8pm on September 2, and wrap with &#8216;Deep Down Happy&#8217; from 9pm on September 10.<\/p>\n<p>So far, Tim&#8217;s Twitter Listening Party has featured albums by the likes of Blur, Franz Ferdinand and Oasis.<br \/>Dua Lipa, Stormzy and Charli XCX lead the 12 albums shortlisted for this year&#8217;s Mercury Prize.<\/p>\n<p>The pop superstar&#8217;s second album &#8216;Future Nostalgia\u2019 is in the running along with Grime megastar Stormzy\u2019s &#8216;Heavy Is The Head&#8217; and Charli&#8217;s DIY isolation record &#8216;how i&#8217;m feeling now\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Rapper Kano&#8217;s powerful LP &#8216;Hoodies All Summer&#8217; and Michael Kiwanuka&#8217;s self-titled LP &#8216;Kiwanuka&#8217; have also been shortlisted.<\/p>\n<p>The albums were chosen by a panel of artists and music industry professionals, including Anna Calvi, Annie Mac, Supergrass&#8217; Gaz Coombes, Jamie Cullum and Jorja Smith.<\/p>\n<p>The overall winner will be announced on September 24.<\/p>\n<p>The timings for the Hyundai Mercury Prize special are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday 2nd September<br \/>8pm Laura Marling  \u2018Song for Our Daughter\u2018<br \/>9pm Moses Boyd  \u2018Dark Matter\u2018<\/p>\n<p>Thursday 3rd September<br \/>7pm Georgia \u2018Seeking Thrills\u2018<br \/>8pm Anna Meredith  \u2018FIBS\u2018<br \/>9pm Porridge Radio  \u2018Every Bad\u2018<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday 9th September<br \/>8pm Lanterns on the Lake  \u2018Spook the Herd\u2018<\/p>\n<p>Thursday 10th September<br \/>9pm Sports Team  \u2018Deep Down Happy\u2018<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.music-news.com\/news\/UK\/134050\/Mercury-Prize-Albums-of-the-Year-get-the-Tim-Burgess-Twitter-listening-party-treatment\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A selection of the 2020 Hyundai Mercury Prize \u2018Albums of the Year\u2019 are getting the Tim Burgess Twitter listening party treatment.
