Jason Derulo’s new relationship has made him more ‘selfless’ – Music News

Jason Derulo has become a more “selfless” person since he started dating model Jena Frumes.

The 30-year-old singer began a relationship with stunning Jena after meeting her at a gym and, reflecting on how 2020 has changed his life for the better, Jason admitted it’s his romance that has had the most impact.

“I guess the biggest difference is talking about ‘we’ instead of ‘I’,” he told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “It’s not like, ‘What am I going to have for dinner?’ it’s like, ‘What are we doing for dinner?’

“Every time you’re thinking of somebody else in a relationship it really makes you a lot more selfless.”

As for what makes their relationship work, Jason added: “I guess our similarities. We’re born on the same day, September 21, so we’re kind of like the same person.”

Jason has made a name for himself in recent months on TikTok, with regular videos on the social media site, and he also maintains an active profile on Instagram. He hit headlines last year when he shared a picture of himself in his underwear on the site, and officials banned it for being “indecent”.

However, the Talk Dirty star insists he and Instagram bosses are back on good terms, as he explained: “We’re cool now. I forgave them. Honestly, that situation blew up way too big. It was not that serious but I guess it just caught on.

“I didn’t think that would be the reaction, no way. That exploded,” Jason laughed.

Liam Payne’s girlfriend sparks engagement news – Music News

Liam Payne’s girlfriend has sparked engagement rumours after she was spotted wearing an impressive new ring on her wedding finger.

Texan Maya Henry, 20, has been dating the former One Direction singer for almost two years and now it seems their romance is becoming serious. The pair enjoyed a romantic meal at Novikov restaurant in London on Thursday, with Maya seen sporting a diamond ring believed to be worth a staggering £3 million ($3.9 million).

Liam hasn’t confirmed or denied the engagement story, but sources close to the star claim he proposed earlier this summer, following a brief split from Maya in February.

The 26-year-old is often tight-lipped about his private life but fans will be hoping he opens up about his model love when he hosts a virtual birthday show online on Saturday night.

The singer started dating Maya in 2018, shortly after he split from British pop star and TV personality Cheryl, the mother of his three-year-old son, Bear.

It was previously revealed that Liam first met Maya when she was 15 years old, when she attended a meet and greet event for One Direction.

R. Kelly in solitary confinement following prison attack – Music News

R. Kelly has been placed in solitary confinement in a Chicago, Illinois prison after he was beaten up in his cell by a fellow inmate.

A TMZ source claimed the I Believe I Can Fly hitmaker, who is behind bars awaiting trial on a series of child sex abuse charges, was attacked in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center.

Kelly’s legal representative has confirmed the report, revealing measures have been taken to protect his client.

“That’s the only place they can protect him,” Steve Greenberg told Page Six.

“My understanding is, every time there is a pro-R. Kelly protest outside of the jail, they lock down the entire facility,” he explained, elaborating: “When they do this, inmates don’t get their commissary, they don’t get their shower, stuff like that and since they’re fairly sporadic anyway, they get upset.”

Greenberg said everyone in the facility was penalised: “because people are protesting in support of Kelly.”

The ongoing drama led to tensions behind bars and that resulted in the altercation on Wednesday.

Greenberg insisted Kelly sustained no major injuries thanks to the quick thinking of prison guards.

“I’m still very concerned because sure this time the guards were able to quickly stop something from happening but what happens if someone goes in his cell with a shank or something like that? Or the guards are busy doing something else?” he queried, concluding: “We were fortunate this time.”

Jennifer Lopez excited for possibility of making baseball history – Music News

Jennifer Lopez has professed excitement over the ‘amazing’ opportunity she has to potentially make history as a new owner of the New York Mets baseball team.

The Love Don’t Cost a Thing hitmaker and her fiance, retired New York Yankees ace Alex Rodriguez, are part of an investment group vying to take over the Major League Baseball franchise from its current owners, the Wilpon family.

J.Lo has no updates to offer fans on the ongoing negotiations, but admitted the idea of becoming the first woman – and a Latina at that – in a high-powered role at the Mets would be a huge move, not just for herself, but for MLB bosses, too, as there are currently no females listed as principal team owners.

Appearing on Barstool Sports’ The Corp podcast, the singer and actress said: “Listen, in this day and age, that would be something that would be so amazing.”

She continued: “I think in every field, especially in institutions like Major League Baseball that are so American in this moment in time, it is important for diversity and it is important for women to have positions of power that they’ve earned and deserve and can contribute in a way that is just as good as any man on the planet.”

J.Lo and A-Rod, who abandoned a previous effort with different investors in May, are presently working with current and retired National Football League stars such as Travis Kelce, Brian Urlacher, Joe Thomas, and DeMarco Murray, and basketball players including Bradley Beal and Mason Plumlee.

They have made an initial $1.7 billion (£1.3 billion) bid for the Mets, but face stiff competition from hedge fund billionaire Steve Cohen, who has reportedly stepped up his earlier $2 billion (£1.5 billion) offer to $2.6 billion (£2 billion) in an attempt to secure the purchase.

Mel C: ‘Men were too scared to sexually harass the Spice Girls’ – Music News

Melanie Chisholm has commented that the Spice Girls never encountered sexual harassment because men were ‘petrified’ of them.

The singer, dubbed Sporty Spice, insisted she and her bandmates had such a ‘girl power’ presence, that men wouldn’t dare to say anything off-colour in their presence – sparing them from inappropriate behaviour.

“It’s funny because I get asked about the Me Too movement a lot… and if I’ve ever experienced anything, and I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ No one would come near the Spice Girls because they were petrified by us,” Mel C told Jessie Ware during an appearance on her Table Manners podcast.

The 46-year-old said she believes the fact they appeared to be women taking care of one another was a major factor in why they were left alone.

“There are some vulnerable people in the Spice Girls, but you knew if you mess with one of them, you would have to deal with the other four,” she suggested.

However, the Wannabe hitmakers did experience their share of sexism, which only made them more determined to succeed.

“We started talking about girl power because we experienced sexism in the industry,” Mel C recalled, telling listeners that the Spice Girls were told: ‘Girl bands don’t sell records, you can’t be on the cover of magazines because girls buy records by boys’.

Recollecting the treatment, Mel C exclaimed: “We were like, ‘Seriously?’ Don’t say that to the Spice Girls, that’s like red rag to a bull.”

The Rolling Stones and The Killers set to release new rendition of ‘Scarlet’ – Music News

Sir Mick Jagger and co dropped the original – which features Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and Blind Faith’s Ric Grech on bass – last month and now another version is set to arrive on Friday (28.08.20).

The track was originally recorded in October 1974 but had not been heard before now, and is set to feature on the upcoming multi-format reissue of the band’s 1973 album ‘Goats Head Soup’.

And the ‘Satisfaction’ hitmakers have teased the new rendition featuring the Brandon Flowers-fronted rock band and their regular collaborator, Jacques Lu Cont – whose real name is Stuart Price.

The latter – who has produced and co-written tracks for the likes of Madonna, Dua Lipa, New Order and Kylie Minogue, to name a few – first started working with The Killers when he remixed their mega-hit ‘Mr. Brightside’.

Taking to Twitter to tease the new spin on ‘Scarlet’, The Stones tweeted: “Coming Friday…@thekillers #GoatsHeadSoup2020”, and added the goat and soup bowl emoji.

The track was only a demo born out of a jamming session with Page, but it turned out so well, the ‘Satisfaction’ rockers felt it should be shared with the world.

Mick said: “I remember first jamming this with Jimmy and Keith [Richards, guitarist] in Ronnie’s [Wood, guitarist] basement studio. It was a great session.”

Keith added: ‘My recollection is we walked in at the end of a Zeppelin session. They were just leaving, and we were booked in next and I believe that Jimmy decided to stay. We weren’t actually cutting it as a track, it was basically for a demo, a demonstration, you know, just to get the feel of it, but it came out well, with a line up like that, you know, we better use it.’

The Killers’ feature on ‘Scarlet’ follows the music video starring ‘Normal People’ actor Paul Mescal.

BTS keen to ‘comfort and give joy to people’ through their music now more than ever – Music News

BTS hope their music will “comfort and give joy to people” now “more than ever” amid the Covid-19 crisis.

The K-pop superstars recently released their new tune Dynamite – the group’s first all-English single – and have already broken hordes of records with the catchy hit.

Speaking with NME.com, the boys admitted the coronavirus pandemic has given them a new perspective on what they want to achieve with their music.

“It has been a difficult year for many. We have also had to face many surprises and changes,” singer RM explained. “That naturally made us think profoundly about music. We can honestly say that we love it, and we are passionate about singing and dancing more than anyone. We realised, however, that no matter how passionate we are, we need our fans there to listen to our songs and watch us perform.

“It made us eager to comfort and give joy to people through our music and performance more than ever. That is how Dynamite came to be. We decided to accept new challenges and be more flexible.”

The group are currently putting the final touches to their new album and have divided up the tasks they’re undertaking on the record – with Jimin as project manager and V in charge of visuals.

And reflecting on how the division of roles has affected the record making process, they reflected: “This upcoming album really reaches new heights in terms of active participation from the members.

“We each take our share of responsibility for the team and act with initiative; increasing our responsibility from general participation to taking charge of more significant portions of the creative process allowed us to consider many more aspects of music.”

Miley Cyrus marks seven years since hit single ‘Wrecking Ball’ – Music News

The pop megastar took to Instagram to share a clip of the viral music video for the track, which saw her swinging across the room on a giant wrecking ball in the nude, and admitted it “feels like a lifetime ago” that she put it out.

She wrote: “7 years of Wrecking Ball. My concept of time is completely askew. Feels like a lifetime ago… but somehow only yesterday. Thank you for all the support you gave me then and of course the love you’re continuing to show my art today. Forever grateful & inspired. (sic)”

The single was taken from Miley’s fourth LP, 2013’s ‘Bangerz’, and she later admitted she regretted the song and the promo.

The ‘Nothing Breaks Like a Heart’ hitmaker confessed that she would hate for it to be played at her funeral.

Speaking in 2017, she quipped: “Swinging around naked on a wrecking ball lives forever. I am never living that down.

“I will always be the naked girl on a wrecking ball, no matter how much I frolic with Emu [her dog] I am always the naked girl on the wrecking ball.

“I should have thought of how long that was going to follow me around.

“It’s my worst nightmare, that song being played at my funeral — that is my worst nightmare.”

Meanwhile, Miley recently dropped the lead single, ‘Midnight Sky’, from her upcoming seventh studio album.
The popular track is the biggest radio song of her career.

She reacted: “Back in the studio and just heard that Midnight Sky is having the biggest radio add week of my CAREER and it’s #1 most added at Pop and Hot AC.

“Every radio programmer who added [my song] is rad as f*** and everyone who didn’t, well….. (sic)”
