Paloma Faith welcomes second child – Music News

British singer Paloma Faith is a new mum.

The Only Love Can Hurt Like This star gave birth to her second child, a daughter, with her husband Leyman Lahcine on Saturday, and although she is thrilled with the new arrival, Paloma confessed she is already “exhausted” as she deals with the pain of her Caesarean section recovery and breastfeeding.

“Well I’m not pregnant anymore! I had a planned c section yesterday,” she posted to Instagram on Sunday, alongside a snap of her baby girl’s foot and another of Paloma in hospital.

“I’m in a lot of pain and didn’t sleep last night but it’s worth it to see and meet the new little cherub I have infront of me. It’s been about 30 hours and already I’m Exhausted, sore and my nipples are on fire with a baby piranha that wants to kill me… (sic)” she went on, adding: “but I am of course elated!”

Paloma continued: “This baby couldn’t be more loved or wanted if she tried (yes I have two gals).”

The singer admitted she was doing her best to nurse her little one, despite previously finding it “too hard” on her body with the couple’s first child, a four-year-old daughter, but she is “trying anyway”, even though her “nipples are on fire”.

Wrapping up her post, she added: “Lost a litre of blood and I’m in so much pain despite the pain killers. The joys!”

Paloma has been open about her struggles to expand her family, revealing her new daughter was conceived after six rounds of in vitro fertilisation.

Megan Thee Stallion wants to be remembered as one of the ‘OGs’ of female rap – Music News

The 26-year-old star is determined to make a long-term impression on the genre, saying she wants to be remembered as one of the best and most influential rappers of all time.

She shared: “I feel like when it’s all said and done, when people want to talk about female rap … they are definitely going to have to put my name up there with the OGs.”

Megan has topped charts around the world with hits such as ‘Hot Girl Summer’ and ‘WAP’, but she still considers herself to be a rapper rather than a pop star.

She explained: “I’m a rapper. Rap will always be my heart. That’s really what I love to do.”

Megan treats her rap career like a traditional job and she refuses to get caught up in the drama that surrounds her life.

She told Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “Even though I’m not working a traditional job, I still treat it like: ‘This is work. I need to work hard for this. I want to be here. I want to do this. I want to be Megan Thee Stallion.’

“I feel like I know what comes with my job. If I took everything personal, then I would probably be somewhere curled up in the corner.”

Earlier this month, Megan insisted she remains on track to get her university degree later this year.

The rapper reassured her social media followers that she’s committed to her studies despite her chart success, after one Twitter user cast doubt on her ambition.

Megan – who studies health administration at Texas Southern University and eventually hopes to open an assisted living facility in Houston – wrote: “Mam Im abt to Graduate in the fall and still gone open my facility.. hope you get them retweets doe (sic)”

“I love the fact I can do it in the morning, I can do it in the evening and I can do it all afternoon.”

He said: “[My ultimate goal is] to continue performing.

“I’m putting out more music this year, but I am also going to see what happens.”

The ‘King’ hitmaker has been influenced by his mum’s taste in music but he’s also been looking back to the 1980s recently.

He added: “My biggest idols are musicians like Jeff Buckley, Joni Mitchell and Stevie Wonder, but I also liked a lot of the music my mum loved when I was coming of age – like Whitney Houston, Eva Cassidy and Bob Dylan.

The Beach Boys have sold the rights to their intellectual property – Music News

The ‘I Get Around’ hitmakers have landed a deal with music mogul Irving Azoff’s Iconic Artists Group, which means the company owns their entire brand, including their master recordings, the rights to their band name and a share of their publishing rights and memorabilia.

Fans could see Beach Boys appear in different forms in the future, thanks to technologies such as VR and CGI.
The firm’s CEO Olivier Chastan told Rolling Stone: “The Beach Boys, in a sense, are not just a band. They’re a lifestyle. They’re a consumer brand. And they’ve never really exploited that.

“That includes VR, AR, 3D, CGI, natural language processing, et cetera.

“That, to me, is probably the most interesting aspect of what’s going to transform our business. In five years, I could send you a text and say, ‘At 2 p.m., let’s put our Oculus Rift glasses on, and let’s go see the Beach Boys record ‘Good Vibrations’ at Western Recorders.’”

It’s not known how much the rights were sold for.

It comes as a number of artists have sold various percentages of their back catalogues to the popular firm Hipgnosis Songs Fund.

Neil Young recently sold 50 per cent of his catalogue, which is said to be worth an estimated $150 million (£110 million).

The 75-year-old music legend inked a lucrative deal with Hipgnosis, following their recent acquisition of 100 per cent of former Fleetwood Mac musician Lindsey Buckingham’s entire music collection and producer Jimmy Iovine’s producer royalties.

Half of Neil’s music collection amounts to 1,180 songs.

The firm’s founder, Merck Mercuriadis, said: “This is a deal that changes Hipgnosis forever.

“I bought my first Neil Young album aged seven. ‘Harvest’ was my companion and I know every note, every word, every pause and silence intimately.

“Neil Young, or at least his music, has been my friend and constant ever since.”

Hipgnosis ensures their client’s music is heard across radio and TV and that they earn a tidy profit in royalties.

Sir Elton John has compared ‘full of life’ Olly Alexander to the late great Freddie Mercury – Music News

The ‘I’m Still Standing’ hitmaker has hailed the ‘It’s A Sin’ star for being “hilariously funny” and talented like the Queen frontman – who died in 1991, aged 45, due to complications from AIDS.

The 73-year-old music legend brought up his late friend Freddie while talking to Olly about his role as Ritchie Tozer in the Channel 4 drama series, ‘It’s A Sin’, which depicts the lives of gay men and their friends who lived during the HIV/AIDS crisis in the UK.

He told the Years & Years frontman on ‘Elton John’s Rocket Hour’ on Apple Music 1: ‘Who Wants To Live Forever’, sung of course by Freddie Mercury, who died of AIDS. I was at the funeral and it was one of the most upsetting occasions of my life because the whole funeral was in Farsi, because Freddie was Persian. So nobody understood a whole word of what was going on … It was a surreal experience. I miss him every day because he was such, a bit like you [Olly], positive, full of life, full of energy, hilariously funny, and what a talent.”

Elton then asked the 30-year-old singer if he is similar to his character on the mini-series.

He said: “Having spoken to you on the phone and now speaking to you in person I get the feeling that you in real life are not very far away from Ritchie the character in ‘It’s a Sin’?

To which, Olly agreed that there are many similarities that he shares with Ritchie, such as moving to London to pursue a career in acting and singing.

He replied: “We’re similar! We share a lot of similarities – 18-years-old I moved to London, that’s what I did to make a name for myself. I wanted to be an actor, I wanted to be a musician, and I really related to that with Ritchie straight away.”

The ‘Candle in the Wind’ hitmaker also related to the character, as he was a “very naughty boy” back in the day and reiterated that Olly’s positivity and fun outlook on life “really touches” him.

Elton said: “Well, it reminded me of myself in the ’70s. I was a very naughty boy and I had so much fun and I didn’t care what I got up to. You have so much life in you, no matter what you do, whether you’re making music, whether you’re acting, you have this great spirit, which sends out so much positivity … I love the essence of what you represent. It really touches me, I love people with that kind of positivity.”

Luke Bryan struggled not showing ‘human element’ to American Idol hopefuls during pandemic – Music News

Luke Bryan has found it “very, very tough” not giving hugs to American Idol hopefuls who have struggled with the audition process.

The fourth season of the rebooted talent show returned to U.S. screens on Sunday night, with Luke reprising his role as a judge alongside Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.

However, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic made things somewhat different when it came to filming, as Luke told People.

“The interesting thing is just trying to navigate all of the new rules of COVID-19,” he explained.

“One tricky thing is a lot of times during the audition process, contestants will get very, very emotional and it will be an emotional situation for them,” the country singer went on.

“The fact that me and Lionel and Katy can’t walk out there and do the human element – hug and show support and love, is very, very tough,” he shared.

Reflecting: “When someone is hurting and they’re emotional, you want to console them and hug them and love on them to help them through” Luke lamented that not being able to show physical support for the contestants can be “heartbreaking.”

However, Luke insisted that other than that, American Idol will largely “look and feel the same”.

“At the core of it, it’s all about those wonderful singers and talented singers walking in the door and really blowing our minds as judges,” he smiled, adding: “I think through all of the Covid restrictions and rules, we’ve been able to really, really put an amazing show together, and very excited to see some of the talent that we’ve been able to find.”
