Demi Lovato suffered three strokes, heart attack after drug overdose – Music News

Demi Lovatos near-fatal 2018 drug overdose caused her to suffer three strokes and a heart attack as doctors fought to save her life.

The Confident hitmaker will lay out her personal struggles in the new YouTube docuseries Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil, and in the trailer, which was released on Wednesday, the singer revealed just how close she came to death after suffering a setback in her battle with sobriety.

In the teaser, Demi suggested keeping her issues bottled up caused her to act out and put her life at risk.

“Any time that you suppress a part of yourself, it’s gonna overflow,” she said, later confessing: “I crossed a line that I had never crossed… I snapped.”

Recalling her near-death experience, Demi shared: “I had three strokes, I had a heart attack. My doctors said that I had five to 10 more minutes (to live).”

The footage is soundtracked by an as-yet-unreleased song, which the lyrics suggest shares the same title as the docuseries.

“I’m rebirthing, I’m starting over,” Demi declared.

“I’ve had a lot of lives, like my cat; I’m on my ninth life. I’m ready to get back to doing what I love, which is making music. I’m not living my life for other people, or their headlines, or their Twitter comments,” she went on.

The hard-hitting four-part series, which chronicles the events which led up to her medical emergency, will also feature appearances by her family and close friends, as well as Christina Aguilera and Sir Elton John, who admitted: “When you’re young and you’re famous, my god, it’s tough.”

The trailer also indicated Demi will open up about her short-lived romance and engagement to actor Max Ehrich, who was dumped by the singer in September.

Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil will open the South by Southwest Film Festival on 16 March.

Richard Ashcroft set to return with a new single on Friday – Music News

The 49-year-old rocker took to his social media pages to tease his first new music since his 2018 LP ‘Natural Rebel’.
Ashcroft shared a barcode with a picture of the former Verve star seen faintly through it.

Underneath, it reads: “New Single 00:01 19/02/2021.”

The ‘A Song for the Lovers’ singer’s close pal Liam Gallagher expressed his delight at Ashcroft’s comeback.
He commented underneath the post on Twitter: “C’mon you know.”

Last year, Ashcroft revealed he was working on a acoustic ‘greatest hits’ collection.

The ‘Drugs Don’t Work’ hitmaker spilled that he was busy recording a collection of stripped-back versions of “some of the best tunes” from his career.

He said: “Yeah, at the moment I’m set to start on an acoustic set of some of the best tunes… and stripping them back and laying them bare basically, so that will be my next thing.

“I’m excited about that… I’ll be recording, I’m carrying on, moving on.

“So that will be my next record and from there when that comes out, that mythical night in my mind will take place.”
However, he didn’t reveal whether the record, which is yet to get a release date, will feature any material from The Verve’s back catalogue, or whether it will be focused on his solo career.

Meanwhile, although the live music scene is in a difficult place at the moment amid the coronavirus pandemic, he has previously explained he has no plans to stop making music anytime soon.

He said previously: “It’s only physically that will stop me adding that desire to explore music to my fans and enjoy this gift I’ve been given.

“I’m aware that just as many people who like me, don’t like me and once you’re comfortable with that you’re never going to please the whole world musically. That’s just the yin and yang and the balance of life.”

The ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’ star added that he feels more confident in his own talents later in his career.

He insisted: “I love performing live. My voice is better, I have a much stronger voice now than I had, I sound like a child back then.”

Haim confirm Taylor Swift features on their upcoming remix of ‘Gasoline’ – Music News

After eagle-eyed Swifties spotted the collaboration was registered with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), the trio – comprising sisters Danielle, Este and Alana Haim – have shared a snippet of the new version featuring some backing vocals by the ‘cardigan’ hitmaker on TikTok.

The siblings posted a clip of them driving in a car with the song blasting on the stereo and captioned it: “Uh oh.”
The pop group had directed fans to TikTok with a tweet which read:” tik tok tik tok tik tok (sic)”

Haim had already posted a black and white snap of them standing in front of petrol pump number 13 at a gasoline station wearing matching wigs, and the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker previously revealed it’s her favourite number.

Haim recently teamed up with the 31-year-old Grammy-winner on the track ‘No Body, No Crime’ on her album ‘evermore’.

‘Gasoline’ is from Haim’s acclaimed third studio album, ‘Women In Music Pt III’.

It’s not known when the remix will be released, though it’s widely speculated to be arriving on Friday (19.02.21).

The collaboration comes after Taylor announced that her re-recording of ‘Fearless’ is complete and will come with six new songs.

She wrote on social media last week: “I’m thrilled to tell you that my new version of ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’ is done and will be with you soon.

“It has 26 songs including 6 never before released songs from the vault. ‘Love Story (Taylor’s Version)’ will be out tonight.”

The album is available for pre-order, and a hidden message in an accompanying note suggested it could drop in April.

In a lengthy statement, she added: “Artists should own their own work for so many reasons, but the most screamingly obvious one is that the artist is the only one who really *knows* that body of work.

“For example, only I know which songs I wrote that almost made the Fearless album. Songs I absolutely adored, but were held back for different reasons (don’t want too many breakup songs, don’t want too many down tempo songs, can’t fit that many songs on a physical CD).”

Drug overdose left Demi Lovato with brain damage – Music News

Demi Lovato no longer drives as she is still suffering from the effects of brain damage as a result of her drug overdose in 2018.

In the new trailer for her highly-anticipated YouTube docuseries Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil, the pop star revealed she had three strokes and a heart attack during her health emergency, which still causes her issues to this day.

Speaking to reporters after the teaser’s premiere on Wednesday, she said, “I was left with brain damage and I still deal with the effects of that today. I don’t drive a car because of blind spots in my vision…(and) I had a lot of trouble reading.”

Despite hitting rock bottom, Demi insisted she wouldn’t change a thing about her life’s journey to date.

“They’re still there to remind me what could happen if I ever get into a dark place again. I’m grateful for those reminders,” she shared. “It was a painful journey, and I look back and sometimes – I get sad when I think about the pain I had to endure, but I don’t regret anything. I’m so proud of the person I am today.”

The four-part docuseries marks the first time Demi has openly addressed her near-fatal overdose, and she wanted to use the opportunity to set the record straight once and for all – and to offer hope to anyone battling similar struggles.

“I wanted to reveal it all for my fans and say, ‘This is who I am and this is where I am today,'” she explained. “If it helps you, then I hope that it can. That was ultimately my purpose in putting this out.”

But the drug addiction and overdose aren’t the only subjects featured in the project.

“I touch on so many topics in this documentary that’s not just about substances…,” she continued. “(It also addresses) past traumas that I’ve dealt with but have never spoken about.

“Waking up in 2018, I realised there is still so much work I have to do on myself… It’s about self-acceptance, it’s about not conforming to what other people think you should conform to. You are who you are.”

Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil will open the South by Southwest Film Festival on 16 March, and premiere on YouTube on 23 March.

Green Day announce new single ‘Here Comes The Shock’ – Music News

The punk rock legends – comprising Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool – will premiere their first new music since their 2020 album ‘Father OF All…’ at the NHL Outdoors at Lake Tahoe hockey game on February 20, before the song is made available on major streaming services.

In a statement, the ‘Basket Case’ rockers said: “Loud season has returned.

“We’re stoked ‘Here Comes The Shock’ will soundtrack the NHL’s return to the outdoors!”

The US chart-toppers have been busy penning new music amid the COVID-19 pandemic and haven’t ruled out dropping a new record.

Asked about the possibility of Green Day working on a new LP, Billie said in November: “It’s possible.

“Whether we do a full-length album or an EP or just a song, we have a lot of different options. It’s a matter of whenever the right moment happens.

“That’s the beauty of the way you can put music out these days. You don’t have to wait for any gatekeeper to tell you that the timing is right.”

Earlier last year, the 49-year-old rock star revealed he had penned six new track and admitted he and his bandmates hope they can work with ‘Father Of All…’ producer Butch Walker again when they can.

He said at the time: “I’ve been writing a lot of music, and I had all these melodies in my head, so I wrote, like, six songs since all of this has been going on.

“I don’t know when I can get together with Mike [Dirnt, bass] and Tré [Cool, drums], but I told them to make sure that they’re quarantined for now, and then I hope down the road we can get back in the studio with [‘Father Of All…’ producer] Butch Walker.”

Kelly Rowland’s waters broke in her son’s bed – Music News

Kelly Rowland’s waters broke while she was in bed with her son Titan.

The Destiny’s Child star gave birth to baby Noah – her second child with husband Tim Weatherspoon – on 21 January, and opened up to U.S. TV show Extra about his arrival into the world.

“My water broke in Titan’s bed,” she laughed. “(Titan) called, ‘Mommy, Mommy,’ and I go there in the middle of the night, and next thing I know I was like, ‘You need to go get your dad.'”

Kelly, who is promoting her new single Black Magic, added that she’s revelling in her new baby bubble with her two boys, and said of her latest addition: “He’s so awesome… I’m just getting all of my little cuddles and kisses in where I can. He’s a healthy baby. He is very alert. He’s already lifting the head up.”

And six-year-old Titan, who chose his sibling’s name, is already doing well with his big brother duties.

“No one’s more excited about Noah than Titan… if Noah cries, if Noah whimpers, if Noah does anything, Titan’s like, ‘Noah, Noah.’ He’s such a great big brother. He’s been waiting for this moment, waiting!” Kelly gushed.

Bebe Rexha revealed she is currently ‘writing an idea’ for BTS – Music News

The ‘I Got You’ hitmaker told fans she has been busy coming up with a demo, but insisted the K-Pop boy band – which comprises RM, Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook – haven’t heard it yet as it’s still in its infant stage, but it’s sounding “dope”.

During an Instagram Live with fans this week, she teased: “[BTS] haven’t heard it, it’s not a song for them. I’m just writing an idea for them.”

She added: “It needs work though; it needs a lot of work. But it’s dope.”

It’s not the 31-year-old singer’s first foray into K-Pop, as she previously co-wrote SHINee’s 2010 track ‘Lucifer’ and ex Fin.K.L member Lee Hyori’s ‘As Long As I Love You’.

It’s not clear what the plans are for Bebe’s demo.

The Grammy-nominated megastars are set to release the ‘BE (Essential Edition)’ on Friday (19.02.21).

A press release stated that whilst it features the same track-listing as the deluxe edition of the album ‘BE’, “Several components will be different from the previous record, and BTS’ surprise gifts for fans will be unveiled one by one before the album’s release.”

BTS recently made history yet again by being the first K-Pop group to be nominated for a major award, as their smash hit track ‘Dynamite’ landed them a Best Pop Duo/Group Performance nod at the upcoming Grammys.
And they also scooped the Best Pop award at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards.

As for Bebe, she released her debut album, ‘Expectations’, in 2018, and has delayed her follow-up amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

She said last year: “I can not wait for you to hear it. It’s just that we don’t feel like it’s right to release an album during these times. As soon as The world is in a better place we will release it alll

“We are just waiting for when the time feels right. I promise you it is worth the wait. (sic)”
