Megan Thee Stallion drops new track to mark 26th birthday – Music News

Megan Thee Stallion has dropped her new track, ‘Southside Forever Freestyle’, to mark her 26th birthday (15.02.21).

The ‘Savage’ rapper pays homage to her home city of Houston, Texas, on the freestyle which is part of her ongoing #MeganMonday series.

The beat was produced by her longtime collaborators, LilJuMadeDaBeat and Three Six Mafia’s Juicy J, and sees Megan declare herself the “hardest in Houston” as she raps about her haters.

She spits: “I can’t even take half of you b****** seriously/ Half of y’all don’t know if y’all don’t f*** with me or if you wanna f*** me.”

The ‘Hot Girl Summer’ hitmaker shared the music video for the song on YouTube, in which she rocks a Houston Rockets baseball cap and bikini.

‘Southside Forever Freestyle’ marks the first solo release from Megan since her acclaimed debut album, ‘Good News’, in November.

The Grammy-nominated star recently jumped on the remix of Ariana Grande‘s ’34+35’ with Doja Cat.

Meanwhile, the hip-hop star previously admitted female rappers are held to a higher standard than their male counterparts.

She explained: “A man can be as mediocre as he wants to be but still be praised.”

The ‘WAP’ hitmaker – who has collaborated with the likes of Nicki Minaj, Normani and Cardi B – also rubbished the idea that her music is too raunchy.

Megan – who is known for her explicit lyrics and eye-catching music videos – said: “What are you really mad about? You cannot be mad about me rapping about sex. That’s not what you’re mad about.”

Follow the hashtag #MeganMonday for future releases in the series.

Lenny Kravitz joins the cast of ‘Shotgun Wedding’ – Music News

The 56-year-old musician will co-star opposite Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel – who took over the lead role after Armie Hammer recently backed out – in the upcoming action-comedy from Lionsgate, Deadline has reported.

D’Arcy Carden, Selena Tan, Desmin Borges, and Alex Mallari have also signed on for the project, which is being directed by Jason Moore.

Mark Hammer and Liz Meriwether penned the screenplay, which centres around a woman named Grace (Lopez) and a man named Tom (Duhamel), who gather their lovable but very opinionated families for the ultimate destination wedding just as the couple begins to get cold feet.

If that wasn’t stressful enough, the group finds their lives in danger when the entire party is taken hostage.
According to Deadline, Kravitz will star as Sean, the globetrotting ex-boyfriend of Lopez’s character Grace.

Marin will play Robert, Grace’s father, while Carden is Harriet, Robert’s new wife.

Tan will play Marge, the head of the wedding resort, Borges’ character is Ricky, the permanently whisky-buzzed, embarrassing childhood best friend of Tom, and Mallari will play Dog-Face, a pirate.

Mandeville’s Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman are producing the film with Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina for Nuyorican Productions.

Executive producers are Alex Young of Mandeville Films, Nuyorican’s Courtney Baxter, Ryan Reynolds, and George Dewey.

Production is set to begin on the film this month, but it’s not yet known when the movie is going to be released.

Louis Tomlinson hopes to give his fans some new music this year – Music News

The ‘Just Hold On’ singer has been musing over ideas for his follow-up to his debut solo album, ‘Walls’, and though he doesn’t have any “concrete plans” to release his second full-length release just yet, the 29-year-old star is “sure” something will come out before the end of 2021.

He tweeted: “I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about my next record. It’s going to be special!”

When one follower asked if he knows when his next LP will arrive, Louis replied: “No concrete plans because I don’t need that pressure while I’m writing. I’m sure I will have something out this year but unlikely that will be the album. Who knows though!”

And when another fan asked which songs from ‘Walls’ will be a “good bridge” to the next album, he responded: “Great question. Walls, only the brave, kill my mind, copy of a copy (sic)”

In November, Louis admitted that some songs on his first album were “truer to [him] than others”, and so with his follow-up he wants to ensure he’s “owned” everything he’s trying to say.

He explained: “I’m very, very excited. I had basically penciled down a plan before corona took over our lives. And now it’s kind of given me a little bit of time to really get into what I want to say and what I want things to sound like. Because, you know, I was really proud of my first record, but there were moments that I felt were truer to me than others. I think that there were some songs where I took slightly more risk and owned what I love, saying, ‘This is who I want to be’. So I want to take a leaf out of their book.”

The One Direction star – who released ‘Walls’ last January – also previously revealed he’s been inspired by Red Hot Chili Peppers’ guitarist John Frusciante, but admitted he hasn’t got the nerve to get in touch with him as he thinks he’s “too cool” to speak to him.

He said: “I grew up on their album ‘By the Way’. And during lockdown I’ve been knee deep in their stuff. I’ve watched every documentary, every video. And I find their lead guitarist John Frusciante just fascinating.”

Asked if he has spoke to the musician, he said: “I f****** wish.

“No, honestly, I think he’s too cool for that. He’s not into that kind of thing.”

After 30 years as co-host of “KEVIN & BEAN SHOW,” RYDER said,  “I’m happy KLOS has lowered their standards just enough for me to slip in. Everyone at the station, starting with HEIDI AND FRANK in the morning, are having fun, and love the music they’re playing. I’m happy to be working in the afternoon, with my longtime friend SLUGGO, because one of us needs to be able to use the English language sufficiently. Plus, I need my beauty sleep to remain at the top of the modeling game. I’m looking forward to reconnecting with listeners and having fun on the air in L.A. again!”

“We’re doubling-down on ‘live and local’ with one of the very best in our craft,” said MERUELO MEDIA President/CEO OTTO PADRON. “Bringing KEVIN RYDER on-board was a no-brainer, as this is the type of bold and disruptive move that delivers compelling voices and relevant content to our very deserving listeners.  We welcome KEVIN and his legion of loyal fans to the KLOS MERUELO MEDIA family!”

KLOS PD KEITH CUNNINGHAM said, “Great talent and content are king.  If we’re not providing both, we’ll become irrelevant. KEVIN is laugh out loud funny, an A-List content creator, hall of famer, this market loves him, and adding him to the team and partnering him with SLUGGO completes what I consider to be the most powerful and entertaining on-air lineup in all of SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.”

KSI has launched his own record label, The Online Takeover – Music News

The 27-year-old rapper-and-boxer has teamed up with his manager, Mams Taylor, on the new firm and announced their first signee is 19-year-old Aiyana-Lee – a relation of late Temptations star David Ruffin and ‘What Becomes of the Brokenhearted’ hitmaker Jimmy Ruffin.

KSI said in a statement: “TOT. The online takeover. Ya boy has created his own music label. Looking at my résumé, I’ve always been about making sure the people around me are eating good. So, I am proud to announce that Aiyana Lee is the first of the TOT gang and will be returning with another banger very soon.”

Rising talent Aiyana-Lee previously featured on KSI’s track ‘Killa Killa’ from his acclaimed debut studio album, ‘Dissimulation’.

She commented: “Being the first artist on KSI’s label is so incredible and exciting, especially when he’s such a down to earth human being and inspiration to so many people including myself. Getting to work with someone like that, after years of also being a fan, is so much fun and extremely creative. I’ve been making music I’ve always wanted to make and exploring the inner depths of my sound. The new single on The Online Takeover is going to really showcase what I want to say through my music and set the tone for what I’m about artistically.

We’ve crafted a world sonically, a place for me to really have the space to be able to sing and say what I’m feeling. I think this brings a new chapter for all of us and it’s a journey I’m extremely excited to be embarking on!”

The ‘Really Love’ hitmaker launching his own label comes after the Sidemen co-founder recently hinted he may take a break or quit music and YouTube when he settles down and starts a family.

He said: “There isn’t really an end goal, I don’t know how long I will be in the music industry or doing the whole YouTube thing.

“When I want to settle down and have a kid and a family, I want to make sure I put all my focus on them. I have always wanted a family.

“It’s so weird and scary as so much has happened in the past five years of my life, so I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

However, the ‘Don’t Play’ star has vowed to live it up before he steps back.

He added: “I want to enjoy everything before I calm down.”

Wolf Alice confirm their return with new project ‘The Last Man On Earth’ – Music News

Wolf Alice have seemingly confirmed their return with a new project titled ‘The Last Man On Earth’.

Ellie Rowsell and co shared the title on their website along with a video of a flickering eye and invited their fans to sign up to their mailing list for future updates.

It’s not known at the time of writing whether ‘The Last Man On Earth’ is a single or album name.

The indie group – whose last studio album was 2017’s Mercury Prize-winning ‘Visions of a Life’ – had been enjoying some downtime, but Ellie revealed in 2019 that she was reading books and listening to other bands in a bid to spark her creative juices and that they had plans to pen new material.

She said at the time: “I’ve just read the book ‘Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine’ [by Gail Honeyman]. That was quite a good read.

“I’ve been listening a lot to that new Crows song. I’ve been trying to listen to a bit of country music. I’ve never written country and I don’t know anything about it, so you can listen to it without putting on your analytical ears. That’s quite relaxing to me as a punter.

“I used to play Irish music so I’ve been trying to get back into that.”

Ellie continued: “It’s too early to say at this point, but ideally I’d like to have something new. I’ll still be just as excited if we didn’t, but that’s six months away, so I’m not going to be chilling that hard the whole time!”

A year later, Dirty Hit label boss Jamie Oborne spilled that Wolf Alive would spend 2020 working on their new record.

He said: “It’s going well. The guys are just writing. The demos are pretty well formed, we’ve settled on a producer and they’ll be starting in about a month’s time. It’s going to be amazing. They’re an incredible band already but seem really inspired to make their best album.”

Joss Stone ‘isn’t too bothered’ about her music career anymore – Music News

Joss Stone doesn’t “feel too bothered” about her career now she’s a new mum.

In a new interview with ITV News, the Super Duper Love star explained that since becoming a parent to daughter Violet in January, her priorities in life have changed. However, she doesn’t envisage herself giving up music anytime soon, because she enjoys it too much.

“I don’t really feel too bothered about it (my career),” she said. “But I never want to stop singing because I find it fun. I miss my band, miss music, I miss seeing people smile and having that connection but I don’t know whether I need to be nurturing and massaging my career in the way that I did at 17.”

And while Joss used to consider her music to be the most important thing in the world, she now chooses her projects based on a “happiness scale”.

“If it’s over five I’ll do it and if it ain’t I’m not going to do it,” the 33-year-old grinned, noting that’s why she decided to sign up for the U.K.’s The Masked Singer – which she won as The Sausage.

As for the popularity of the show, which sees celebrities perform beneath elaborate costumes as a panel of judges try to guess their identity, Joss mused: “I think we have had enough of all this tiresome seriousness, it is making people exhausted. I think every person on this planet needs to rest from all that drama.

“And I think maybe the Masked Singer gives that. It’s bright, it’s colourful, it’s fun, it’s not competitive, each person that takes off their mask, they’re happy to be there. It’s all positive, there’s nothing negative about it.

“Whereas you’ve got other singing shows where you see people burst into tears, it breaks their whole heart when they get voted off… it’s a different kind of show. But this is all good, it’s all love, so that must be why.”

For this year’s 16th annual industry-wide study of media and technology, TECHSURVEY 2021 will provide radio broadcasters with a very different look at the media landscape and the audience – thanks to COVID-19. This is the first study that will measure key indicators impacting radio broadcaster during the pandemic. To provide optimal relevance, the data is cross-tabbed by gender, generation, and 14 formats, allowing radio execs the ability to understand the post-pandemic media environment.

All of the key performance indicators from past studies will be tracked – broadcast radio listening momentum, why radio matters, station engagement, listening locations, and devices used. TS 2021 also provides longitudinal data for social media, the connected car, mobile device, audio and video streaming, smart speakers, and e-commerce holiday shopping. This new study will also provide insight about how radio broadcasters performed during the pandemic, and how changing listening patterns – thanks to WFH and less time in the car – have impacted the industry.

New areas of investigation include virtual meetings and live streaming participation, the newest video streaming platforms, current attitudes about social media and privacy, and comfort participating in “normal” activities at this stage of the pandemic.
