Shaun Ryder is still ‘seeing aliens’ – Music News

The Happy Mondays and Black Grape star – whose 2013 series, ‘Shaun Ryder On UFOs’, saw him travel around the world in search of the truth about UFOs – has insisted his home is still being invaded by extraterrestrial beings, after he previously claimed they came to his home in a “spider” spaceship.

He told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “I don’t go spotting for it, it just f****** appears! Once these things are on you they make you sound like a t*** because they keep appearing in front of you and coming around where you are.

“Obviously, I have to say something and then everyone thinks I’m a **** cos I’m off me f****** napper.
“It is how it is, they’re f****** here – they were here before us, probably.”

Speaking in 2019, he recalled: “I wake up one morning and there’s this thing that looks like a spider that’s moving across the windowsill and it’s got, like, red lights going across its back and it’s got six legs, sort of like a spider.
“It was hand size, five or six inches long, and makes absolutely no noise whatsoever.

“Then it goes to where the window is and then an aerial goes up and it goes up to where the window is open and then it changes shape and dives off and then as it’s moving out it completely disappeared.

“This sounds like I’m making it all up and it’s all a load of b******s but it’s not.”

Shaun perviously claimed he saw an alien as a teenager and that UFOs landed in his garden.

Meanwhile, the 56-year-old music star- who is planning a new Black Grape album, which will be the rock group’s first since 2017’s ‘Pop Voodoo – admitted ‘Step On’ hitmakers the Happy Mondays would have had no problem “making it” nowadays.

He told the newspaper: “People say it’s harder now but if you look at what we were to rock ’n’ roll, today you got the f****** grime kids doing their own thing and making it.

“It shows no matter what, your music can get out there.

“These kids, when they play shows, they have a ton of people following them. So I think the Mondays would have got out there one way or the other.”

Jade Thirlwall, Mel C and Scissor Sisters singer Ana Matronic are among the stars set to take part in a brand new Instagram Live series for the U.K.’s biggest LGBTQ+ collective, Sink The Pink.

The weekly extravaganza will see a host of musical stars, also including former Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Myleene Klass, Kate Nash and Charlotte Church interviewed by a legendary line-up of drag queens.

The Pop Tarts series kicks off with Charlotte on Wednesday at 7.30pm GMT, being interviewed by TeTe Bang, followed by Mel C chatting to Joan Oh on 17 February and Kate Nash talking to Petite Lame on 24 February.
Jade’s conversation with Bimini Bon Boulash concludes the series on 31 March.

Little Mix’s Jade is a big fan of the drag community, and served as guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. She apparently impressed TV bosses so much, that a career in presenting could be her next move after pop.

“The Beeb (BBC) see her as a young Davina McCall and are trying to come up with some concepts for her now,” an insider told The Sun. “She shone on (Little Mix reality competition) The Search and really stood out when she was a guest on RuPaul.”

Mary J. Blige, JAY-Z, Tina Turner, and LL Cool J lead nominees for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – Music News

Mary J. Blige, Tina Turner, JAY-Z, LL Cool J, and the Foo Fighters are among the contenders for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year.

Blige, who has been previously nominated, was named by the organisation on the shortlist on Wednesday, before the final inductees are announced in May.

JAY-Z and the Foo Fighters both released debut albums in 1996, landing them in the eligibility zone that requires nominees have a catalogue dating back at least 25 years.

Nominees making their first appearance on the ballot despite being previously eligible include late Nigerian musician Fela Kuti and singer Dionne Warwick, in addition to Iron Maiden and The Go-Gos.

Others on the list include Carole King, Kate Bush, Devo, Chaka Khan, Todd Rundgren, the New York Dolls, and Rage Against the Machine.

“This remarkable ballot reflects the diversity and depth of the artists and music the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame celebrates” said John Sykes, the chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, in a statement obtained by People. “These Nominees have left an indelible impact on the sonic landscape of the world and influenced countless artists that have followed them.”

Music fans can cast their votes for their favourite stars from Wednesday until 30 April via the Rock Hall’s website.
Meanwhile, Ohio music lovers can also vote in-person at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland.

Organisers are hoping that the Covid-19 situation will improve enough to allow for a live induction ceremony in the autumn, after last year’s class had to settle for a taped HBO special.
