FKA Twigs working on martial arts TV show – Music News

FKA Twigs is developing a new TV show about martial arts outsiders for America’s FX network.

The star came up with the idea while working on her video for Sad Day, which featured a mystical sword-fighting sequence last year.

“(I’ve done) a couple of fun things over lockdown, because I’ve had a lot of time with not travelling or touring,” she told The Face, noting: “I’ve been able to get a couple of ideas down for TV series and films.”

The Singer and songwriter explained: “There’s one… off the back of Sad Day, a music video that I did for one of my songs off (2020 album) Magdalene,” announcing that FX Networks are interested in the idea.

“I’ve developed it into a TV series and FX have picked it up. So I’m currently making my first TV series,” she declared.

Calling the show “like a martial arts TV series”, “centred around outsiders and the idea of wanting to fit in but not being able to” Twigs said she was researching the black community and the Chinese martial arts community and how they “have a really deep connection”.

“It goes into music. (Iconic rap group) The Wu-Tang Clan came together almost through martial arts,” she shared.

Dr. Dre seeking private trial over pre-nup dispute – Music News

Rap mogul Dr. Dre is requesting a five-day trial to determine the validity of the prenuptial agreement he signed with his estranged wife as their contentious divorce rages on.

Nicole Young filed court papers to end their 24-year marriage last June, and began fighting for a bigger share of Dre’s finances after claiming she had been forced to sign the prenup before their 1996 wedding.

She also alleged Dre had expressed regret for the way she was reportedly cornered into the contract and tore up multiple copies of the paperwork in front of her shortly after their nuptials.

However, the hitmaker, who has since become extremely wealthy, denies doing such a thing, maintaining he never pressured Nicole to agree to the financial split in the event of a break-up.

The dispute has been at the centre of their nasty divorce, and now TMZ has reported the superproducer has asking to have a private judge step in and make a ruling on the matter.

His attorney, Laura Wasser, also notes a clause in the original prenup, explaining any alterations must be made in writing.

Young has already objected to having the case removed from the court system and heard in private.

The news follows a request from her that three women who she claims her husband was intimate with during their marriage appear in court for depositions.

Linda Perry curating massive benefit gig for Sean Penn’s charity – Music News

Linda Perry has teamed up with Sean Penn and his CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) partners to curate a star-studded charity gig.

The two-day Rock ‘n’ Relief live stream will feature virtual performances from Foo Fighters, DeadMau5, Carly Simon, Sheryl Crow, Ziggy Marley, Silversun Pickups, Gavin Rossdale, Jewel, and Macy Gray, among others.

The concert will benefit CORE’s work supporting the City of Los Angeles’ mobile vaccination programme, which brings access to the COVID-19 vaccine directly to communities who need it most.

“As a mother and fellow member of this community, I wanted to do something to lift spirits and send a positive message of hope and humanity to all the healthcare workers and those on the front lines, as well as raise awareness and funds to support CORE and their relief efforts,” Perry said in a statement published by Rolling Stone.

“When I first put the word out, many jumped on board to contribute; we had over 150 bands submit to play… We are extremely overwhelmed by the level of support we are getting from these rebel artists who are generously donating their time and so grateful for the backing from the biggest players in the media space,” she went on.

CORE’s co-founder and CEO Ann Lee cheered Perry’s efforts, added: “We are thrilled that Linda Perry has curated such an amazing group of artists to support our cause and bring comfort and joy to people in this time of hardship.”

Dates for the charity event and more details will be released on Monday.

Wolf Alice announce new album Blue Weekend – Music News

Wolf Alice have unveiled their new album, ‘Blue Weekend’.
After teasing fans about a project titled ‘The Last Man On Earth‘ , the Mercury Prize-winners have released a track with that name, which is the lead single taken from their upcoming third studio album.
Bandleader Ellie Rowsell has explained the single is about “the arrogance of humans” and is inspired by legendary late author Kurt Vonnegut’s postmodern satire ‘Cat’s ‘Cradle’.
She said: “It’s about the arrogance of humans.
“I’d just read Kurt Vonnegut’s ‘Cat’s ‘Cradle’ and I had written the line ‘Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from god’ in my notes. But then I thought: ‘Uh, your peculiar travel suggestion isn’t a dancing lesson from god, it’s just a travel suggestion! Why does everything need to mean something more?’”
The follow-up to 2017’s Mercury Prize-winning ‘Visions of a Life’ was recorded at a converted church with studio wizard Markus Drav, and Ellie hopes the songs can help anyone feeling “blue” to feel “better”.
She said: “This album is for other people.
“Sometimes you hear a song and it makes you feel better, or you hear a song and it makes you feel seen. I remember feeling blue about something, and thinking, ‘I wonder what songs I can listen to that will be about what I’m feeling right now’.
“It was almost as if I was desperate to feel better about something, and I would go down any path to feel not alone in something, or to understand it more. And I’ve never really done that before intentionally, I’d never really sought it out.”
‘Blue Weekend’ is released on June 11.

The track-listing for ‘Blue Weekend’ is:
1. ‘The Beach’
2. ‘Delicious Things’
3. ‘Lipstick On The Glass’
4. ‘Smile’
5. ‘Safe From Heartbreak (if you never fall in love)’
6. ‘How Can I Make It OK?’
7. ‘Play The Greatest Hits’
8. ‘Feeling Myself’
9. ‘The Last Man On Earth’
10. ‘No Hard Feelings’
11. ‘The Beach II’

Halsey thanks Jessica Alba for ‘saving her pregnancy skin’ – Music News

The 26-year-old pop star – who is expecting her first child with her boyfriend Alev Aydin – has been struggling with acne since becoming pregnant and has finally found miracle products by Jessica’s beauty line, Honest Beauty.

She shared on her Instagram Story: “Thank you @honest_beauty @jessicaalba for saving my pregnant skin. Not an ad, just seriously the first thing I’ve tried that’s gentle enough for my face rn (sic).”

Halsey has been using Honest Beauty’s Gentle Gel Cleanser, Hydrogel Cream, and Beauty Sleep Resurfacing Serum.

And she particularly praised the Sleep Resurfacing Serum as its vegan formula boasts a mix of five exfoliating alpha-hydroxy acids and hyaluronic acid for added moisture.

Jessica previously shared she believes it is important for mothers to have a dedicated skincare routine as she likes some time out at the end of her day to have a little “me time” .

The 38-year-old actress – who has daughters Honor, 12, and Haven, nine, and three-year-old son Hayes with her husband Cash Warren – said: “A skincare routine can sometimes be the only ‘me’ time that people have in their days. When you are doing something just for yourself, it’s a nice reminder that you matter, and that taking time to take care of yourself is important.”

As for her own bedtime routine, Jessica likes to “reset her mind” whilst putting her kids to bed, and then soaks in a hot bath with a glass of wine.

She explained: “First and foremost, I get into cosy loungewear and throw my hair into a messy bun. Then I recap the day with the kiddos over dinner, followed by giving the baby a bath and a good cuddle – this fills my soul and helps reset my mind and spirit. I also enjoy a bath with a glass of wine and a good book. I often add a face mask and a hair mask as part of my weekly wind-down routine.”

Slowthai has put a stop to spitting in people’s mouths at gigs – Music News

The 26-year-old rapper became known for slobbering saliva over gig-goers after one fan at his concert in Milwaukee, Wisconsin asked him to do so by holding a sign which read: “slowthai I need you to spit in my mouth.”

The ‘My High’ star – whose real name is Tyron Frampton – satisfied the vulgar request by leaning over and spitting into her mouth, but he has insisted he won’t be taking anymore spitting requests due to COVID-19.

Taking part in YouTube series ‘Chicken Shop Date’, slowthai spilled: “They say I started it but I ain’t spitting in no more mouthes now.”

Elsewhere, the music star revealed he went on a romantic hot-air balloon ride and received a Mile High Club badge afterwards.

He said: “I went on a hot-air balloon in LA above the vineyards and then we got a badge that said Mile High Club.”

Meanwhile, slowthai recently revealed he’s hoping to start a family after getting engaged to Russian model Katerina.
The ‘Gorgeous’ star popped the question to his fiancee last year, and admitted it’s always been his dream to have a child one day.

He said: “It’s something that I’ve always wanted. I want my kid to have a similar childhood to the one I had, because I didn’t see it as a bad thing.”

The ‘Ladies’ rapper also shared details of his impromptu proposal and how he and his wife-to-be met on the internet.

Slowthai got down on one knee during their romantic getaway to Thailand, and didn’t even have a ring, as he insisted “we both have everything, I don’t think it’s that important.”

The Northampton-born rapper’s relationship was strengthened by the COVID-19 lockdown and the pair bonded over being musicians.

He said: “I proposed at the beginning of last year. Ah man, I’m going to get it in the neck now.

“We clicked. It wasn’t like a thing of like, when you have a connection with someone and you just make each other laugh, especially in this time. This is the real test. When you’re like on lockdown with someone and it’s like you either want to kill each other or you’re just having a good time and we’ve had a laugh and I think we’re quite respectful of each other’s space like it’s tight, you’re doing your own thing, I’m doing mine. But she makes music. She was in a band in Russia and they were quite big. The way I proposed was in Thailand. We went [to] Thailand and it was like one of them things, we’re lying on a bed and the stars are shining, it was kind of impulsive more than planned out … I didn’t have a ring but I think when it’s like we both have everything, I don’t think it’s that important.”

U.S. First Lady Jill Biden gives Kelly Clarkson advice on getting through divorce – Music News

U.S. First Lady Jill Biden gave Kelly Clarkson advice on how to get through a divorce during a new appearance on the singer’s talk show.

The singer and daytime talk show host, who filed for divorce from her spouse of seven years, Brandon Blackstock, last June, received words of wisdom from Jill, who divorced her first husband, bar owner Bill Stevenson, in 1975, during her first TV interview as First Lady.

“I want to tell you, Kelly, this is what I would say to you if I was your mother,” Jill said in a clip from The Kelly Clarkson Show, which airs on Thursday. “My mother always used to say to me, ‘Things will look better in the morning’

“If you can take one day at a time things will look better. You know, I look back on it now and I think if I hadn’t gotten divorced, I never would have met Joe. I wouldn’t have the beautiful family I have now. So I think things really happened for the best and I think over time, Kelly, I don’t know how long it’s been for you, and over time you will heal and you’re going to be surprised.”

“I can’t wait until that day comes for you and you’re going to call me up and say, ‘Jill, you were right,'” she added.

Jill married now U.S. President Joe Biden in 1975. In November, it was reported that Kelly had she won primary custody of her and Brandon’s two children – River and Remington – but her estranged husband is demanding hefty spousal and child support.

She also sued him for fraud in October, before he hit back with his own suit the following month.

St. Vincent’s new album ‘Daddy’s Home’ teased via a poster – Music News

The 38-year-old singer – whose real name is Annie Clark – is set to release her new record on May 14 viva Loma Vista, according to an official billboard which has been spotted.

It reads: “Warm Wurlitzers and wit, glistening guitars and grit, with sleaze and style for days. Taking you from uptown to downtown with the artist who makes you expect the unexpected.”

The ‘Digital Witness’ star has kept tight-lipped about the posters that have circulated online, but she tweeted on Wednesday (24.02.21): “Nothing to see here.”

The music star has been working on the follow-up to 2017’s ‘Masseducation’ for a while and recently shared what fans can expect.

She said in December: “It’s locked and loaded. And I’m American so I will only use gun metaphors.

“It marks a tectonic shift. I felt I had gone as far as I could possibly go with angularity.

“I was interested in going back to the music I’ve listened to more than any other – Stevie Wonder records from the early 70s, Sly and the Family Stone.

“I studied at the feet of those masters.”

The musician also admitted that while she’s looking forward to returning to live performance, she thinks her shows will be more scaled back than her last tour.

She added: “My last tour was a whole bunch of production and high-concept video and razzle-dazzle and I can’t go any further with that.

“I’m going to come down and just play.

“I don’t think high-gloss sheen is going to be that resonant with people because it will feel very much ‘let them eat cake.’”
