Lawyer requests sexual abuse investigation into T.I. and Tiny Harris – Music News

Lawyer Tyrone A. Blackburn has called for a sexual abuse investigation into rapper T.I. and his wife Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris.

Blackburn, who is representing 11 alleged victims, penned a letter sent to state and federal authorities in Georgia and California, in which he urged them to look further into the claims of “sexual abuse, forced ingestion of illegal narcotics, kidnapping, terroristic threats and false imprisonment” against T.I. and Tiny, some of which go back to 2005.

In the note, Blackburn includes testimony from five people who claim they were either raped or sexually assaulted by the pair. One of the alleged victims – a female military veteran – claims she was drugged by the couple after meeting them at a club, after which they are said to have taken her back to their hotel room to have sex, during which the woman apparently vomited.

“The next thing she remembers was waking up naked on the couch, with a towel thrown over her, with a very sore vagina,” the letter states.

T.I., real name Clifford Harris Jr., and Tiny strenuously denied the claims in a statement via their lawyer Steve Sadow, which read: “Clifford (T.I.) and Tameka Harris deny in the strongest possible terms these unsubstantiated and baseless allegations. We are confident that if these claims are thoroughly and fairly investigated, no charges will be forthcoming.

“These allegations are nothing more than the continuation of a sordid shakedown campaign that began on social media. The Harrises implore everyone not to be taken in by these obvious attempts to manipulate the press and misuse the justice system.”

It’s not the first time T.I. and Tiny have faced such allegations. Sabrina Peterson, who had accused T.I. of putting a gun to her head in a post on Instagram in January, used her social media account to share testimonies from over 30 women who made sexual abuse allegations against the pair. However, Blackburn told The New York Times that none of these women were among those he is representing.

Following Peterson’s posts, VH1 bosses decided to cease production on the couple’s T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle reality show, midway through filming the fourth season.

“We are aware of the allegations, and while they are not connected to our show, we have reached out to T.I. and Tameka Harris, as well as local and state officials,” an MTV Entertainment spokesperson said in a statement to Deadline at the time. “Given the serious nature of the allegations, we have decided to suspend production in order to gather more information.”

Download Festival cancels citing the coronavirus pandemic – Music News

This year’s Download Festival has been cancelled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The rock festival had been scheduled for June 4-6 with Kiss, System of a Down and Biffy Clyro headlining but has been axed for a second year running due to COVID-19, as UK government guidelines means that live music cannot return for until later in the summer.

Download organisers Festival Republic have assured fans that the festival will return in 2022. Kiss and Biffy Clyro will return with Iron Maiden as the third headliner. Tickets for the event will go on sale on March 5.

Download Festival’s Andy Copping said: “Downloaders, your 2022 headliners are here! Rock ‘n’ roll legends Kiss will be kicking off Friday in style, Iron Maiden will return bringing with them mascot Eddie and more fire than we can handle, and what better way to end the festival than with Biffy who will leave us awestruck with their energy. I’m counting down the days already!”

Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson expressed delight that the rockers will be returning to the event after their planned appearance in 2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic.

The 62-year-old singer said: “Like everyone, we were all hugely disappointed when the global pandemic forced the cancellation of Download 2020 which would have been Maiden’s seventh time headlining here.

“So we are delighted to be invited back and fulfil our ambition of playing Donington Park in every decade since the 1980s!

“As most people know, this Festival is hallowed ground for us (and Eddie!) and our fans’ vocal support and enthusiasm is always phenomenal and much appreciated. We can’t wait to see everyone again, and are determined to make the show one hell of a party and the greatest homecoming ever!”

Stephen Fretwell to release first new material in 13 years – Music News

The 39-year-old singer, who has previously supported Oasis and Travis, has shared a new track called ‘Oval’ and is set to release a new album in the summer.

Stephen revealed that his new song is inspired by personal experience and the “actuality” of marriage.

He said of the track: “I think it is a song about marriage, the actuality of it, the responsibility of it, and the gamble. When my girlfriend was pregnant with our first son, we moved to a flat near the Oval in London.

“As our marriage fell apart a few years ago, it was this simple song that was the only thing I had to stick in the ground and push on with making some new music.”

Stephen continued: “I wrote the song about watching my wife look out of the window in that flat in Oval, looking at her new life as a mother, our new life as parents, and I was trying to show that in some way the beauty that we are gifted by becoming parents is often haunted by the loss of something, too.”

The ‘Run’ singer’s most recent work was the acclaimed 2007 album ‘Man on the Roof’ and he says he was uneasy about returning.

He said: “For 13 years I hadn’t walked into a professional recording studio to stand still and make a record from start to finish in one delivery – one go. Just the terror of the tape spools beginning to turn and the red light coming on.”

The Changing Dynamics Of Programming Local …

aaas-nicki-farag-session-updated-3-01-21.jpg

Thank you radio, music and podcasting communities! We have received great reaction to our initial sessions for the ALL ACCESS AUDIO SUMMIT, APRIL 21 & 22 and we are set to announce another session as we build toward completing our full agenda, very soon with topics and speakers that are addressing in-the-moment subjects. You can email us your suggestions … just click here, or take our online survey. You can register, here!

Is Local Programming Becoming A Thing Of The Past?

Recent changes in staffing and local resources at many of the larger radio companies, along with the COVID-19 pandemic, have carved deep channels of change in the day-to-day operating methods of many markets and stations with many companies putting more emphasis than ever on hub and spoke programming.

In this timely session, we ask “Is Local Programming Becoming A Thing Of The Past?” Our panelists will be exploring the changing dynamics of radio programmers now running stations day-to-day in other markets. How does this look and is there more of this in store? How are you accomplishing your day-to-day goals and managing resources from air talent to support teams? What’s the trick to making your station come off live and local and still have the feel of authenticity? And most importantly, is this strategy that’s saving operational money improving or hurting the financial returns based on ratings?

The other part of this equation is the relationship with labels — Is this helping or hurting new music discovery efforts and radio’s place at the table?

The ALL ACCESS AUDIO SUMMIT is thrilled to welcome to our virtual stage, these experts:

  • NICKI FARAG, DEF JAM EVP/Head Of Promotion
  • LOUIE DIAZ, CUMULUS VP/Contemporary, OM/PD WWWQ/ATLANTA
  • MARK ADAMS, iHEARTMEDIA Top 40 Brand Coord., PD, KIOI & KYLD/SAN FRANCISCO

Jessie J has gone public with her new romance with dancer Max Pham Nguyen.

The British pop star shared pictures of herself cuddling up to her new man on her Instagram page, as she responded to a news article which featured pictures of her and Max eating lunch and described him as her “male pal”.

“Max and I thought you guys deserved some better picture options. Saving you hiding in cars and bushes,” Jessie wrote alongside the snaps, before adding that she’d given fans a “car, silly, park, beach, date night and eating a snack” option of pictures of her and her beau.

“We did laugh A LOT!” Jessie wrote of the article, and made a Shrek reference as she joked that the pictures made her look like “Lord Farquards Dad growing out an old hair cut (sic)”.

“Ps. He isn’t my male pal,” she concluded.

The relationship is the first for Jessie since she split from actor Channing Tatum in October following a lengthy on-off romance.

Dionne Warwick wants Wendy Williams to be first guest on YouTube talk show – Music News

Dionne Warwick is gearing up to launch her own YouTube chat show Dionne Speaks, and wants Wendy Williams to be her first guest.

The pair have been at loggerheads since December, when Williams criticised Warwick’s Twitter activity and referenced a 2002 marijuana charge against her – prompting the Say A Little Prayer star to quickly hit back.

And following Saturday Night Live’s reference of the feud on the latest episode of the sketch show, Warwick took to Twitter to reveal she’s keen to convince Williams to chat to her on Dionne Speaks.

“Hey @nbcsnl! I loved the skit, but let’s kick this up a notch,” she wrote. “I wanna say thank you. Thank you for the wonderful skit you did last night. I had a ball laughing. (You) must be reading my mind (because I’m getting ready) to do my own talk show.

“And I’d love for my very first guest to be…, you guessed it, Miss Wendy Williams.”

She continued, “Now you do know that I do not bite my tongue, and I do have a few things I want to discuss with Miss Wendy Williams, on (Dionne Speaks).”

Williams has yet to respond to Warwick’s invitation on her social media pages.

Warwick first launched her YouTube channel last week, and she teased the upcoming Dionne Speaks.

A release date for the series has yet to be announced.

The Newcastle upon Tyne band are just shy of 1,500 copies ahead in an extremely tight race – just 2,500 chart sales separate the entire Top 5 at the midweek mark of the week.

Nature Always Wins is on course to be Maximo Park’s first Top 10 album in seven years, and their highest charting since 2007’s Our Monthly Pleasures peaked at Number 2 on the Official Albums Chart. Look back at where all of Maximo Park’s albums and singles charted in the UK.

The Record Club is a collaborative livestream project between Record Store Day, Official Charts and National Album Day, supporting physical retailers and new releases. Sign up here.

Alice Cooper is currently at Number 2 with Detroit Stories. The rock legend’s first new studio album for four years could mark his best UK chart position since 1989’s Trash peaked at Number 2.

Metalcore group Architects could claim their first UK Top 10 album with For Those Who Wish To Exist at 3, while London rapper Digga D’s second mixtape Made in the Pyrex is the most-streamed collection of the week so far at 4, and Buxton singer-songwriter Lucy Spraggan could scoop her first Top 5 album with Choices at 5.

The White Stripes’ Greatest Hits marches in at Number 6, while Neil Young and Crazy Horse live album Way Down In The Rust Bucket is a new entry at Number 7. The reissue of PJ Harvey’s Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea, lands at Number 8 midweek along with Demos – its accompanying collection of unreleased demos and rarities at Number 19; the album originally peaked at Number 23 in 2000.

US singer and multi-instrumentalist Julien Baker is heading for her first charting album in the UK with Little Oblivions (14), plus US rockers The Black Crowes could pick up their first Top 40 entry since 2001 with Shake Your Money Maker (18).

Finally, more prospective new entries come from New York pop singer Madison Beer with her debut album Life Support (24), and Dutch metal band Epica with Omega (25).
