New Backup Plan

The NHL’s COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS have a new alternative radio home — literally — when their game broadcasts are bumped from their flagship, TEGNA Sports WBNS-F (97.1 THE FAN)/COLUMBUS, inking a deal with iHEARTMEDIA Alternative WXZX (COLUMBUS ALTERNATIVE 105.7) to air games not carried by THE FAN. In recent years, the BLUE JACKETS aired games not carried by THE FAN on Alternative WWCD (CD 102.5), now WWCD-A-W225CS (CD 92.9). The arrangement with iHEARTMEDIA starts THURSDAY with the BLUE JACKETS hosting the DALLAS STARS at NATIONWIDE ARENA.

“COLUMBUS ALTERNATIVE 105.7 will complement our flagship station 97.1 THE FAN to provide BLUE JACKETS fans comprehensive radio coverage in central OHIO through game broadcasts, as well as pre- and post-game shows,” said BLUE JACKETS VP/Business Intelligence & Broadcasting MARC GREGORY. “We’re looking forward to working with IHEARTMEDIA COLUMBUS to develop unique activations in the future for hockey and music fans alike.

“We truly appreciate our past partnership with WWCD and everything they have done to bring listeners BLUE JACKETS hockey over the years. Unfortunately, we were unable to come to an agreement on future game broadcasts.”

“We are extremely excited about this partnership with a great COLUMBUS brand and franchise,” said iHEARTMEDIA Markets Group SVP/Programming MICHAEL MCCOY. “We look forward to working together to bring THE 5TH LINE game broadcasts and expanding our relationship with the BLUE JACKETS.”

Sia promises that ‘Music’ will air with a warning – Music News

The ‘Chandelier’ hitmaker has faced a backlash about her upcoming film – which sees her frequent collaborator Maddie Ziegler portray an autistic teenager – and she has promised the movie will be accompanied by a disclaimer regarding the way the titular character is treated in certain scenes.

She tweeted: “I promise, have been listening. The motion picture MUSIC will, moving forward, have this warning at the head of the movie:

“MUSIC in no way condones or recommends the use of restraint on autistic people. There are autistic occupational therapists that specialize in sensory processing who can be consulted to explain safe ways to provide proprioceptive, deep-pressure feedback to help w meltdown safety.(sic)”

The 45-year-old singer-and-director has defended her decision to cast Maddie, rather than an autistic teenager, in the film on multiple occasions and previously insisted it was more “compassionate” to use a neurotypical actress.
She tweeted: “I did try. It felt more compassionate to use Maddie. That was my call…

“I cast thirteen neuroatypical people, three trans folk, and not as f****** prostitutes or drug addicts but s as doctors, nurses and singers. F****** sad nobody’s even seen the dang movie. My heart has always been in the right place.(sic)”

And Sia also insisted she simply couldn’t work without Maddie.

She said: “I realised it wasn’t ableism.

“I mean, it is ableism I guess as well, but it’s actually nepotism because I can’t do a project without her. I don’t want to. I wouldn’t make art if it didn’t include her.”

Maddie – who has starred in many of Sia’s music videos, including the promos for ‘Elastic Heart’ and ‘Chandelier’ – feared people would think she was “making fun” of autistic people.

Sia insisted: “I bold-facedly said, ‘I won’t let that happen.'”

However, she realised she cannot “protect” her from the criticism.

The ‘Unstoppable’ hitmaker added: “Last week, I realised I couldn’t really protect her from that, which I thought I could. We sent it off to the Child Mind Institute and she received 100 per cent as performance accuracy. I realise that there are some things I can’t protect her from as much as I try.”

Bebe Rexha shocked by death reports – Music News

Bebe Rexha has returned to social media after a three-day break to shoot down reports of her death.

Rumours suggesting the singer had died from a drug overdose hit the Internet earlier this week, but she quickly assured fans and followers she was alive and well.

“Jeez I stay off line for three days and not only am I dead but I died of a drug overdose?!?!” Rexha wrote on Twitter.

The Baby, I’m Jealous singer went on to call the story “messed up” and confessed she was taken aback by a fake CNN report that allegedly included a statement from her family, before making light of the drama and joking she was actually a ghost, adding: “I’m tweeting from your bedroom closet. Boo b**ch.”

The 31-year-old replied to a fan who posted an alleged statement from her family: “Omg god forbid what the hell. That’s messsd up god forbid.”

The statement claimed her relatives had said “She was the light of our lives. We would appreciate some privacy at this difficult time”.

Lady Gaga impressed with hospital staff who took care of relative – Music News

Lady Gaga has heaped praise on the healthcare workers who took care of a sick family member.

The Poker Face star told People magazine the unnamed relative was recently hospitalised with an undisclosed illness for two months and she was impressed by the lengths to which medics, doctors and nurses went to make the patient feel comfortable at all times.

“I was in the ICU (intensive care unit) by myself many times because you can’t go in with more than one person, if you can go in at all,” she said.

“I have never seen the heroic acts of bravery that I witnessed, watching these doctors and nurses and people that were cleaning at the hospitals,” she shared.

Gaga revealed staff at the hospital also went out of their way to make sure she was OK – and she’s convinced no one knew who she was.

“They put their heart and soul into their work, and they even cared for me, who – I assure you, nobody could even recognise me behind all the gear that I had on (sic),” she recalled, adding: “they just said, ‘How are you doing? How is your family? Is everything OK? Can we do anything?'”

Wes Borland: ‘Marilyn Manson is a bad guy who needs to face his demons’ – Music News

Marilyn Manson’s former guitarist Wes Borland has blasted the band leader as abuse allegations swirl around him, insisting the shock rocker is a “bad guy”.

The Limp Bizkit star was a member of Manson’s band for less than a year in 2008, but he insisted that was long enough to get to know the Rock is Dead singer.

And a day after Manson’s ex-fiancee Evan Rachel Wood identified the rocker as the abuser she has often mentioned in interviews and social media posts, Borland admits he’s not surprised.

During an appearance on the Twitch channel Space Zebra on Tuesday, the guitarist said: “He’s not a great guy and every single thing that people have said about him is f**king true… They are speaking the truth.”

Conceding that Manson is “amazingly talented,” Borland added: “but he’s f**ked up and he needs to be put in check and he needs to get sober and he needs to come to terms with his demons.”

He added: “He is a bad f**king guy.”

Borland then explained that he knew Mason when the rocker was with Evan Rachel Wood.

“I was at his house. It’s not f**king cool. And that’s all I’m gonna say about it. So if anyone is coming after these girls and going, like, ‘You blah blah blah, this and that’, f**k you.’ That’s all I’m gonna say. Sorry to take this to a dark place, but that guy is cancelled. Goodbye. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out,” he fumed.

After Wood went public with her allegations, claiming Manson “groomed” and “horrifically” abused her for years, a handful of other women posted their own allegations against the singer.

The scandal has cost Manson a record deal and several TV and film roles.

He has issued a statement denying the abuse allegations against him, writing on Instagram: “Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality. My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how – and why – others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth.”

Themepark bosses suing Taylor Swift over Evermore – Music News

The owners of a fantasy park in Utah are suing Taylor Swift for trademark infringement.

Evermore theme park’s owners have claimed the pop star gaffed when she slapped ‘Evermore’ – the title of her latest album – on merchandise, asserting they own the copyright to the name.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, the park argued they trademarked ‘Evermore’ back in 2004, and Taylor’s merchandise online is causing confusion in the marketplace. They insist Swift’s use of the name is hurting their bottom line, and are seeking millions in damages, alleging that after Swift’s album was released on December 11, search results for the theme park dropped on Google.

Taylor’s lawyers have called the legal action “baseless” and added that the singer-songwriter styled her new album “in a way that is entirely distinct” from the park’s aesthetic. They have also said they refused to comply with a cease and desist letter the park sent to Swift late last year.

Swift’s album, which she released as a surprise follow-up to last year’s bestselling release Folklore, spent two weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 at the end of 2020.

Dolly Parton waiting to get COVID vaccine – Music News

Dolly Parton is stalling her COVID vaccine shot until “some more people get theirs”.

The country superstar, who donated $1 million (£730,000) to vaccine development at Vanderbilt University in her native Tennessee, is eligible to receive the jab but feels there are more at-risk people than her.

The singer, who turned 75 last week, told the Associated Press: “I’m not going to get mine until some more people get theirs. I don’t want it to look like I’m jumping the line just because I donated money.”

She went on: “I’m very funny about that. I’m going to get mine though, but I’m going to wait.”

Explaining: “I’m at the age where I could have gotten mine legally last week. I turned 75. I was going to do it on my birthday,” the Jolene hitmaker shared: “I thought, ‘Nah, don’t do that’. You’ll look like you’re just doing a show. None of my work is really like that. I wasn’t doing it for a show.”

She added: “I’m going to get mine. I want it. I’m going to get it. When I get it, I’ll probably do it on camera so people will know and I’ll tell them the truth, if I have symptoms and all that,” noting: “hopefully it’ll encourage people. I’m not going to jump the line just because I could.”
